Delta Reschedules Launch of New Plane

The government shutdown continues to upset the travel industry. It has now caused Delta Air Lines to push off the first flight of their new airplane as it awaits airworthiness certificates from the Federal Aviation Administration.

The airline accepted the first delivery of brand new Airbus A220-100 in October. The first flight was scheduled to takeoff on January 31st from New York LaGuardia with service between Boston and Dallas/Fort Worth. My ticket on that flight has since been updated to show that the aircraft has been replaced by a 717-200.

One more week isn’t that bad

Not to worry, the airline has only pushed the launch by a week. The new date first flight is now set for February 7th assuming everything goes smoothly. I was able to change my ticket to the new date without penalty with the help of a Delta customer support agent.
