Delta Accepts First New A220

Delta Air Lines received the first of its new A220-100 aircraft on Friday during a ceremony held in Mirabel, Quebec. The delivery makes Delta the first A220 operator in North America.

Previously the Bombardier CSeries, now branded as the Airbus A220, will be operating domestic routes. Delta will put the aircraft into service on January 31st with flights from LaGuardia to Boston Logan and Dallas/ Ft. Worth with more destinations being added later in the year.

Delta will not be the sole North American operator for long, Jetblue has placed orders for 60 of the larger -300 model to replace their aging fleet of Embraer E190s and is expecting to start takeing delivery in 2020.
